Business leaders in Jersey have called for greater clarity from government after the next stage of easing coronavirus restrictions was pushed back.
Jersey s Chamber of Commerce wants more information on how these changes will impact businesses and plans for financial support.
The delay will have a really detrimental effect on businesses in the hospitality and retail sectors. These have had the worst experiences of Covid and in many cases they are desperately trying to keep their businesses afloat . There will be precious little left of a summer season with a long winter ahead, so support, which has been so successful so far, should be extended in these cases.

Liberation Group and Randalls have questioned why restrictions which prevent customers from drinking while standing at the bar are still in place despite the continued low number of Covid-19 cases in the Island.
Under the government’s roadmap for easing Covid restrictions, alcoholic-drink services for standing customers will not resume until 10 May.
Jonathan Lawson, chief executive of Liberation Group, questioned what else needed to change for the government to ease restrictions further.

DELAYS to the new hospital could cost the Island more than £100,000 per day should the stalemate between St Helier and the project team remain unresolved, according to government figures.

It has estimated that delays to the construction schedule – due to begin in March next year – could incur costs of around £3.4 million per month.
This includes an extra £900,000 per month for each additional month the contract with design-and-delivery partner ROK and Spanish firm FCC is extended. It also covers an estimated additional £1.2 million per month to retain the project team for each month beyond March 2022.
