Three people have been indicted on first-degree murder charges, amid a stack of indictments handed down Wednesday by a Sangamon County grand jury.
A total of ten people were charged on various violent crimes. They include 20-year-old Dustin Carson, who is accused in the February shooting death of Timothy Swope, Jr. on South Sixth Street. First-degree murder charges were also handed down against 46-year-old Keely Williams in the stabbing death of her boyfriend, Joshua Pfeiler of Rochester. And 28-year-old Clinton Shores is charged in the March shooting death of Daniel Kinney at a home on East Griffiths.
Swope died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Carson also faces a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a weapon by a street gang member.
If convicted on all counts, Carson faces life in prison.
Also, a Springfield man convicted of second-degree murder will spend 19 years behind bars.
Circuit Judge Ryan Cadagin sentenced Pope to 16 years for second-degree murder and three years for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Pope was eligible for a 23-year sentence, which is what the Sangamon County State s Attorney s Office recommended.
An initial altercation between Pope, who was driving a pickup truck, and Tayeh occurred near Dirksen Parkway and South Grand Avenue, but continued on to near Hill Street and Enos Avenue.

The investigation continues into three separate homicides in one week in Sangamon County.
The cases do not appear to be connected. A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the murder of another teen in Grandview, but so far there are no arrests in last weekend’s fatal shooting at a Springfield party or the death of Timothy Swope, Jr. Thursday on South Sixth Street.
Springfield man dead following Thursday shooting
A man died early this morning following a shooting Thursday afternoon in Springfield.
The shooting occurred behind a residence in the 2300 block of South Sixth Street, as local police were dispatched to the scene at 1:17 p.m. yesterday. After suffering multiple gunshot wounds, Timothy Swope Jr., 36, was transported by ambulance from the site of the shooting to HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. today.
Preliminary results of an autopsy performed by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office indicate that Swope, of Springfield, died from the gunshot wounds he suffered.
