The consortium is made up of CBC, CTV, Global News, Postmedia, the Globe and Mail and the New York Times. On July 9, lawyers will argue for the right to broadcast the Nygard extradition hearing and those arguments will be live streamed. ....

In brief The federal government is under growing pressure to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of drugs, and the city of Vancouver is paving the way. Vancouver is moving to decriminalize simple possession of all illicit drugs, and instead treat substance use as a health issue. Benjamin Perrin, a professor of law at the University of British Columbia, said that will reduce stigma, redirect police resources and create a pathway for people to be connected with treatment services instead of the justice system.
