Principals worried about health of students, teachers

Ludhiana, May 24 Confusion over conducting Class XII board examinations has teachers from across the country worried and confused. While state governments, in association with the CBSE, are yet to take a decision on how to conduct board examinations, principals of schools in the city remain worried about the health of students and teachers. Many principals believe that if offline exams are to be taken, then exams of all subjects should be held and not only the main subjects. “It doesn’t matter whether you come to school for three days or five days. Students can get infected even if they come to appear physically for the main subjects only. The final decision has to be taken by the CBSE but I personally feel that offline exams should be conducted of all subjects for the betterment of students,” said a teacher of a school in BRS Nagar said.

Private schools in Ludhiana allege discrimination by Education Department : The Tribune India

2096 Shivani Bhakoo Ludhiana, May 7 Private schools managements in the city have alleged discrimination by the Education department towards them. The management committee of private schools say the Department is strengthening enrolment in government schools while tightening noose over the private ones. The management committees said no written guidelines on whether teachers could come to schools or not were received by them but in routine, teams of the Education Department visited schools to check and stop teachers from coming to schools. Government schoolteachers, on the other hand, have been reporting on duty and are visit door-to-door to enrol students. Principals of an aided private school near Samrala Chowk said teachers in government schools were going to schools, taking online classes, visiting door-to-door to encourage parents to enrol their kids in government school while private schools had been subjected to restrictions.

Majority of the schools in Ludhiana to conduct online classes only for new session

20869 Ludhiana, March 3, 2021 Seeing the growing number of Covid cases reported from different schools in the city, most of the private schools have decided to conduct online classes instead of offline for the students in the new academic session. Earlier, the schools had decided to conduct offline classes for students who have been promoted to classes X and XII.  Talking to The Tribune, Principal BCM School, Paramjit Kaur said, As far as the classes for new session are concerned, we will conduct online classes only. Once the situation becomes normal and Covid is controlled, we can switch-over to offline classes .  Similarly, a leading school in Sarabha Nagar had earlier announced to start offline classes from March 1 onwards for students who have been promoted to XII. But since both teachers and students were reported Covid positive from many other schools, the classes will now be held from March 10 and that too online for the time being.
