Open door ministries tackle many obstacles during pandemic

He said businesses aren t hiring like they use to. Within 30 days we try to help them get housed, find a job that kind a thing, Ross said. Through the pandemic we’ve had guys here 4-5  months 6 months even. To top it off, some residents are fighting to stay clean. Open Door having to cancel their substance abuse meetings for social distancing reasons doesn t help. It’s a daily struggle  to not be on drugs and stay sober, Ross said. When we’re not having those meetings it makes it challenging for our guys. The trap addiction becomes more tempting when stimulus checks drop.

Food distribution continues on Madison Street | ClarksvilleNow.com

Clarksville Now CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Food distribution is continuing today on Madison Street at Liberty Parkway in the old Eckerd/Rite Aid pharmacy location. Open Door Ministries, in partnership with local churches and the USDA, is giving away the food. Cars may be lined up along Madison Street. This is the fourth event held by Open Door Ministries at the site. According to Pastor Mark Hutchinson, who is leading the food distribution effort, the group had thought food supplies were exhausted, but they were surprised by an additional shipment. “With the epidemic that we’ve had this year, everybody needs something. And if you have to question whether to pay a bill or feed your family, we’ll feed your family so you can pay your bill,” he said previously.
