EDMONTON A Tuesday morning fire destroyed hundreds of hay and straw bales, costing an Alberta farmer thousands. The fire happened at the Metke Farm west of Millet, around 40 kilometres south of Edmonton. “I came out around four in the morning and the trees were all glowing,” said cattle farmer Trazz Metke. “(I) fired up the tractor, went over there and tried to move as many bales as I could.” Metke said he was able to save 30 bales of hay, but lost 150. He uses the hay to feed his cattle. “I’ve got about 200 heads of cattle I take care of by myself. My dad passed away in February,” said Metke.
