We have all heard about the growing cost of lumber, the shrinking of a qualified construction labor force and the steadily increasing cost of land, all factors driving up the price tag for construction. In addition, builders say that layer of regulations like CEQA, consumer protection laws and increasing fees have greatly contributed to the costs of building in the Bay Area. Strategies to address the lumber shortage and training deficit are being discussed, and over time, the costs associated with these factors will resolve themselves.
Belgrade citizens are being asked to weigh in with their opinions before the city prepares grant applications for sidewalk projects in various places around town.
During Mondayâs City Council meeting, City Manager Ted Barkley said Belgrade has applied at least three times in recent years for Montana Transportation Alternatives grants without success. He said grant reviewers commented that the city should make a better effort to include the public in the project prioritization process.
To that end, Barkley said the city will ask consultants to assist with a public outreach campaign, during which community members will be asked to weigh in with their opinions.

According to appeals filed, Boldwyn is questioning the scores given to the applicants. He states the distance to a residence should be a 1 for Embarc due to being close to dormitory space used by Tallac Hot Shots. He outlines in his appeal his extensive odor control plan and complete application, both that gave Embarc higher scores.
Meyers businessman Greg Daum owns the building where Embarc would go. Until recently he owned the adjacent service station and was a member of the Meyers Advisory Council. The popular gym that was housed in this building did not have its month-to-month lease renewed and left. The cannabis dispensary will be going into that former space. This move brought much concern from the community. On the Embarc application Daum is listed as president, according to the appeal.
