The Observer: January 2021, what a month it has been By Ron McAllister The month started (Jan. 1) with blue skies and sunny thoughts that the new year might be a good one. Vaccines were coming and 2021 could be a post-pandemic year. In Georgia (Jan. 5), a Black preacher and a Jewish political novice were elected to the U.S. Senate. The world seemed full of possibility. The next day (Jan. 6), the U.S. Capitol was invaded by an angry mob and possibilities collapsed. Toward the end of his 75-minute Save America  speech that day, President Trump urged the large crowd to march on the Capitol with the aim of overturning November’s rigged election.
