48-Year-Old Hopkinsville Woman Who Died From Coronavirus Recognized By Governor

Tara Mahone Tara Felice Mahone, a court designated worker in Christian County, was almost finished with her studies in criminal justice and hoped to receive her master’s degree in May. She had already earned a master’s in social work. But now Mahone’s professional achievements will be recognized with a posthumous induction into the Kentucky Department of Family and Juvenile Services’ Hall of Fame. Mahone died Jan. 15 of COVID-19 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was 48 years old, the youngest of Hopkinsville City Councilwoman Patricia Waddell-Bell’s five children. “I was so proud of her,” Waddell-Bell said Monday evening in a telephone interview.

Gov reports 1,268 COVID-19 cases, remembers local woman who passed away

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Jan 25, 2021 4:05 PM Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave an update on numerous initiatives happening in the state Monday, while reporting 1,268 new cases of COVID-19. First, the governor announced up to $38 million is available to local governments to help Kentuckians with overdue utility bills in their jurisdiction. Each unit of local government may request up to $200,000 for assistance in their communities and Governor Beshear says this is just another way to help Kentuckians recover from the impact of the pandemic. The 1,268 new cases of coronavirus puts the overall total in the Commonwealth at 347,836 the positivity rate is at 9.93 percent.  Governor Beshear says they continue to see evidence of a decline in new cases and that’s thanks to the efforts of all citizens.
