More students will be returning to in-person learning at Pittsylvania County Schools (PCS) beginning next week, as the Pittsylvania County School Board approved a staged approach to allowing more students in the buildings.Â
This approach, presented to the board by Superintendent Dr. Mark Jones is based upon new guidance from the Virginia Department of Health regarding the opening of schools. One of these new guidance items, Jones said, is reducing the physical distancing requirements to 3 to 6 feet, if other mitigation strategies such as mask wearing are being followed.Â
With evidence that students are not performing well remotely, Jones suggested a staged approach to allowing more students in the schools, as well as on buses, based on three-foot physical distancing.
