Flooding continues Friday morning; cool, dry weather for the rest of the week

Flooding is expected to continue into Friday morning, with otherwise cool, dry weather forecast for the remainder of the week. A flood warning remains in effect for the Ohio River at Cincinnati until Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio. A flood stage of 56.8 feet was recorded Thursday evening. As of 6 a.m. Friday the river was at 56.33 feet. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 56.8 feet early Friday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday afternoon, forecasters said. At 57 feet, flooding begins to surround homes in the low-lying areas in East End, California, Anderson Township and New Richmond in Clermont County.

It will continue to drop this weekend. The river was measured at 55.71 feet at 1 p.m. Friday. Moderate flood stage is 56 feet. Flood stage is 52 feet. Forecasters said the river is expected to fall below flood stage late Saturday morning and continue falling to 34.6 feet Wednesday morning. A flood warning is in effect until Sunday afternoon. This weekend will feature sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s. Greater Cincinnati will see a warm-up early next week, with temperatures expected to reach the 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
