At around 5:50 a.m. on January 18th, Lubbock Police were called in reference to a vehicle burglary that was happening in the 4700 block of 45th Street. When an officer arrived on scene, he located the suspect vehicle attempted to perform a traffic stop. Garcia failed to pull over, and a short pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, police say that 20-year-old Joshua Tyler Garcia, who was the front passenger in the vehicle, opened fire on the officer. The officer s vehicle was struck and disabled, but the officer wasn t injured. Video posted to LPD s Facebook page shows what s presumed to be Garcia leaning out of the suspect vehicle and firing multiple shots at the pursuing officer.

DUI Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Fighting Deputy In Valencia

“The (deputy) conducted a traffic stop on Dickason Drive and Decoro Drive in Valencia,” Arriaga said.   While detaining the suspect, a brief struggle reportedly ensued, and the deputy was able to detain the suspect a short period later, according to officials.   The suspect was arrested on a felony charge of assault on a peace officer, and a misdemeanor charge for driving under the influence, Arriaga added.  The suspect was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail for booking.  Do you have a news tip?
