Liberia: Former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott Blames Executive and Legislature For The Pilling Up of Cases at the Judiciary

MONROVIA – Former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott has blamed the Executive and the Legislature branches of government for the huge number of cases piling up at the Judiciary.
Justice Scott said the caseload on the Judiciary is due to the low budgetary support, signing and ratification of international laws by the Executive and the Legislature without the impact of the Judiciary.

MONROVIA – The Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) of the European Union during the conduct of the 2017 general and presidential elections in Liberia has called on the Coalition of Democratic Change (CDC) led government of President George MannehWeah to intensify efforts towards the attainment of electoral reforms before the conduct of the 2023 elections in the country.
It can be recalled that in March 2018, the EOM of the EU finalized and submitted to the Liberian government23 recommendations intended to ensure electoral reforms and help sustain the country’s democracy.

MONROVIA – The National Executive Council of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) has condemned the recent death threats made on the life of Chief Justice Francis S. Korkpor by one Mark Jabateh.
The LNBA said the death threats made on the life of Chief Justice Korkpor is a threat against the rule of and the entire legal fraternity of Liberia.

Scores of people, predominantly of the Mandingo ethnic group, gathered on Monday, morning, April 25, outside of the Temple of Justice building to show their support to Mike Jabateh, who had been invited by the authorities of the Liberia National Police (LNP) for threatening remarks he made against Chief Justice Francis Korkpor.
Recently, Jabateh in his comments on Facebook live video during the eviction exercise in Ganta, issued death threats against the Chief Justice, accusing him of being behind land disputes in Ganta.
“If one Mandingo man is killed, we will kill Chief Justice Francis Korkpor,” Jabateh is quoted as saying.
