Our resident indie game lover, TJ Denzer, recently had a chance to check out Tadpole Treble Encore on his weekly show, Indie-licious, where he was joined by Bitfinity developers Matthew Taranto and Michael Taranto.
In the stream, TJ and our very own Reviews Editor, Blake Morse, spoke with the Taranto brothers about Tadpole Treble Encore, what it was like creating the music for the game, and even how they created the mechanics of the levels to apply to different songs. The VOD also includes some gameplay for those interested in seeing exactly what Tadpole Treble Encore is.
You can check out the full stream using the embed above to see the game in action and to hear about all the things that Blake, TJ, and the Taranto brothers had to speak about. It’s a bit of a long VOD, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you have any interest in indie gaming.
Captured on Nintendo Switch (Docked)
In August of 2016, the rapidly-declining Wii U eShop was graced by the release of a neat little indie game called Tadpole Treble. As the dream project from Matthew Taranto, a popular webcomic artist, Tadpole Treble easily proved itself to be a memorable and creative experience that we quickly fell in love with. Now, nearly five years on from its debut, a new version of this adorable game called Tadpole Treble Encore has come to the Switch eShop, promising a slightly revised take on the original. We’re happy to report that this game has lost none of its charm or fun in the years since release; it’s every bit a must-have buy for fans of rhythm games.

Treble and bass all over the place
Encore makes a return on Nintendo Switch featuring all of the same great content as before, along with the addition of an all-new stage towards the end of the game and a new original vocal song. Protagonist Baton is a young hatchling of a tadpole at the onset of the journey, and her curiosity gets her into trouble after she swims too far out from her home stream and gets scooped up by a crane. After escaping the crane’s mouth, Baton lands in a completely different part of the island she lives on and must now make the treacherous journey back home to her family. Baton’s journey will take her through
