Explosive family gives Muollo another G1

Link to Share The success of New Zealand-bred horses in the Gr.1 Australian Derby (2400m) continued last Saturday with Explosive Jack taking out the Sydney Classic. The son of the ill-fated stallion Jakkalberry got up to win in the last stride of the 2400m feature, closing from the rear of the field to prevail from fellow New Zealand-bred runners Young Werther (Tavistock) and Lion’s Roar (Contributer). Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Explosive Jack followed a less traditional path into the Derby, traversing Australian states at will. He won on debut over 1600m in late November, before running fifth over 2100m at his next start. A month later he stepped up over 2400m when he won at Kembla Grange against older horses before heading to Tasmania to take out the Listed Tasmanian Derby (2200m) in February.

John Sargent Group 1 Hawkesbury races

This time in under a week, John Sargent could be a member of an exclusive club of trainers to have won an ATC Derby and ATC Oaks with Favreau timed to peak in Saturday’s Blue Riband. Sargent’s Tavistock three-year-old spent Easter Sunday morning wading through the salt water at Brighton-Le-Sands, the day after his brave fourth in the Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill Gardens. ‘’He went to the beach and had an easy day,’’ Sargent said. “He can have an easy week because all the work has been done now for Saturday.’’ Sargent, the last trainer to beat Winx thanks to Gust of Winds’ 2015 ATC Oaks triumph, will have plenty of empty boxes at his High Street headquarters come Saturday afternoon with several of his autumn arsenal in action.

Bloodstock listing - A COLT BY BLUE DIAMOND WINNER, PRIDE OF DUBAI, WITH A AAA PEDIGREE RATING A BIG HORSE WITH A BIG PEDIGREE TO BE TRAINED BY PETER MOODY

The Colt: PRIDE OF DUBAI X LIMONCINO If you have ever wanted to race a horse with a big pedigree and with a big trainer like Peter Moody, then don’t scroll past this colt. This colt has one of the best crosses in the stud book, with horses bred on the same pattern or cross such as Group 1 winner Atlantic Jewel, Darci Brahma, Samantha Miss, Osbourne Bulls and Trekking, just to name a few. He is out of a dam by champion of champion broodmare sire, ZABEEL, who has produced Group 1 winners from his daughters, such as Dundeel, Silent Achiever, Humidor, Faint Perfume, Extravagant and Dear Demi. It can be easily said that this colt would be and could be a stallion proposition, as in his pedigree, he has stallions closely related to him, like Cable Bay, Volksraad and Rip Van Winkle. He was picked by some of the best judges in the business, such as Sheamus Mills (Bloodstock Agent) and David Mourad (Blueblood Thoroughbred’s Racing Manager).
