AMPANG: A 58-year-old man was found hanged from a ceiling fan in his house in Taman Putra here.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the victim s body was discovered by his wife at about 1.45pm on Friday (July 9). The victim s wife had just returned from buying necessities when she discovered the victim in their bedroom. The victim s daughter was also at home but she did not know when it happened, he said on Saturday (July 10).
Initial investigations revealed that the victim was suffering from depression as his business had closed down during the movement control order, he added.
GOMBAK: Police are looking for a 54-year-old man in a robbery case, where two men masqueraded as air-conditioning repairmen robbed a senior citizen on March 5.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe said that in the incident, two men had come to the house and identified themselves as air-conditioning repairmen and grabbed her necklace before running off.
“The 57-year-old complainant was contacted by a neighbour, saying that his mother has just been robbed at their home in Taman Ehsan, ” he added at a press conference on Monday (March 15).
He said that the follow-up investigation led to the arrest of a 58-year-old man on March 11 at Taman Putra, Ampang.

KUALA LUMPUR: Every year during the Thaipusam festival, the Sri Subramaniar Swamy temple at Batu Caves would be flooded in a sea of people comprising Hindu devotees from all over the country and tourists, both local and foreign.
Today, however, the crowds were absent from the temple, which was tightly guarded by the police, as Hindu temples nationwide adhered to the standard operating procedure (SOP) under the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Nevertheless, this year’s Thaipusam is just as significant and meaningful as Hindus marked the occasion with prayers at home, particularly for the country to be free of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jalan SR 8/3 and Jalan SR 8/4 are rather ordinary streets in a small corner of Seri Kembangan. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic is average and parking is relatively easy to find. According to Metro Homes Realty Bhd executive director See Kok Loong, these streets are located in SHL Consolidated Bhd’s mixed development known as Taman Putra Indah.
Jalan SR 8/3 has a business centre, an office building and a petrol station whereas Jalan SR 8/4 is lined with 2-storey shopoffices. Both streets are surrounded by residential properties. On one end of Jalan SR 8/4 is the entrance to landed houses, while the other end is connected to the main road of Jalan Serdang Raya.
