KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 Malaysia already has 72 known and active gangs that could overrun the country with criminal activity if left unchecked, said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department deputy director Datuk Dev Kumar.

PETALING JAYA: Selangor police have opened 36 investigation papers since March last year against those found to have violated home quarantine orders.
In an online press conference on Thursday (Feb 4), Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said police were given a list of those under home quarantine by the Health Ministry and that patrols were constantly sent out to check for compliance. Every day, we will visit no fewer than 200 to 300 houses. The officers are all equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves as well.
PETALING JAYA: The police have arrested 17 people as investigations into a drug turf war between rival gangs in Taman Juara Jaya, Cheras continues. Up until now, 17 people have been arrested. All have been remanded and there are those whose remands will be extended, said Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat in a text message to the media on Wednesday (Feb 3).
He added that a police sweep under Ops Cantas was initiated by the Selangor Criminal Investigations Department. Other CIDs in the Selangor contingent have also been mobilised. At the same time, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department has also been mobilised under this Ops Cantas, he added.

pic) said they conducted an Ops Cantas sweep following the incident on Sunday and arrested 10 men.
“The incident was because of a drug turf war.
“We believe Gang 08 Sungai Besi Indah, Serdang, led by Sara 08 and his right-hand man Rajie 5000, was involved in the clash with Gang 36 Bukit Belimbing, Kajang, led by a man named Tan of Chinese and Indian descent, ” he said.
The operation was conducted by Selangor CID with their counterparts in Kajang and Serdang.
“We have identified several other individuals to assist in our investigations, ” he said.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said they received a distress call about a fight at 6.37pm.
