Share: TOP STORY OF THE DAY, brought to you free by WICU: Thursday update shows county COVID-19 numbers show slight increase Saturday, February 20, 2021 By IVY JACOBS, Times Reporter After several weeks of COVID-19 data seesawing, the Indiana State Department of Health shows Clay County’s data has a slight increase. Currently (Thursday, February 18, 2021), the county is in the overall YELLOW ADVISORY category with a Weekly 2-Metric Score of 1.5, Weekly Cases Per 100,000 Residents at 141 (ORANGE), and the 7-Day All Tests Positivity Rate of 8.06% (YELLOW). The three data scores place a county on the county metric color-coded chart ranging from BLUE (low spread of virus), YELLOW, ORANGE, to RED (highest level of virus spread). The ISDH confirms a county can be at various levels on the three categories and have a different overall weekly advisory level.

FACE COVERINGS & SOCIAL DISTANCING All Hoosiers are required to wear face coverings to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and maintain social distancing of six-feet in public spaces, whether inside or outside, and especially when with others who are not in their immediate household. Businesses of all types are required to place clearly visible signage at the public and employee entrances notifying all that face coverings are required. Businesses should only admit those who wear face coverings and practice social distancing. REMEMBER - A mask should be worn over your nose and mouth to help stop the spread of the virus. Masks are a simple barrier that offers some protection to you and are also meant to protect those around you, in case you are unknowingly infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. Studies show that cloth masks reduce the spray of droplets when worn over the nose and mouth.

Local News: Clay County remains in orange status in state COVID-19 statistical ratings (12/10/20)

Thursday, December 10, 2020 By IVY JACOBS, Times Reporter The Indiana State Department of Health data shows a rise in the positivity rate for the District 7 area. Clay County, which had weekly scores that put it in the RED category the last two weeks of November, is part of Indiana’s District 7, along with Greene, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo counties. Clay was the only county with a RED status at that time. The ISDH’s color-coded county weekly scoring map provides data for officials and residents throughout the state to make the best decisions possible to protect their communities and limit the spread of COVID-19. The color codes are determined by the 7-day moving average of the all tests positivity rate, calculated by taking the total number of positive tests and dividing by the total tests administered:
