Silver may cut superintendent search short, hire Clough

Ashley Montenegro was voted in as the new president of the Silver Schools Board of Education Thursday night, but outgoing President Eddie Flores put a little wrinkle in the board’s plans.
During discussion on the superintendent search, Flores said, “After listening to my constituents and staff, I wonder if we should end the search, and name Mr. [Curtis] Clough the superintendent. He’s here, and if we wait too long, we might not have him here.”
“You really threw me a curveball with that,” Montenegro responded. “We can talk about it, but we wouldn’t be able to vote until it’s on the agenda. We’d have to talk about having a special meeting, or getting it on the next agenda” for Feb. 15. ....
