The Flash #769 Review: Not Exactly Entertaining

If you re a fan of the show
Quantum Leap, you might find some enjoyment in the idea of unpunished spree killer Wally West sliding into the bodies of varied speedsters throughout spacetime to stop disasters that, in fact, Wally himself helped to create.

To be fair, the artwork in
The Flash #769 from David LaFuente, Brandon Peterson, Mike Atiyeh, Luis Guererro, and Steve Wands presents a dynamic, flashy future as well as clever heist mechanics in the present. The script from Jeremy Adams executes the core concepts competently enough. Likewise, it s fun checking in with Bart Allen s futuristic elements and getting some mild sneak peeks of the future for the Blue & Gold franchise and further adventures in time (with a cute TARDIS-styled joke as well).

He s Flash, Wally West, the Fastest Man Alive. He just so happens right now to be stuck in the future in the body of his descendent Bart, also known as Impulse. And also stuck with The Gold Beetle who, River Song style, it turns out he will have a long ad involved relationship with. How long? At least five Crisises long.
Flash #769 by David LaFuente and Brandon Peterson.
Given that we ve already had about five proper Crisis (Infinite Earths, Zero Hour,Infinite, Final and Flashpoint/New 52 if you are being generous) events and this is five more, we ll have plenty of Wally West as The Flash to look forward to. And given the way these things are set up, look for The Galactic Space Race to come. Oh yes, and Galaxia Five.
A DC Hero Decides to Give Up Their Powers

Spoilers for The Flash #768 below! As DC Comics readers will recall from Infinite Frontier #0, a new status quo was set for one of the major heroes of the DCU as Barry Allen passed on the mantle of The Flash to Wally West full time. Barry revealed in that issue that he would be focusing most of his energy at the House of Heroes, home of Justice Incarnate aka the superhero group composed of members from across the multiverse (as formed in The Multiversity). Wally accepted the role in that comic and solicitations seemed to imply that Wallt very much would be the Fastest Man Alive in the solo comic series, which made it all the more shocking as the opening pages of The Flash #768 had him give up his powers entirely.
