KHARTOUM The group set up to claw back assets from ousted President Omar al-Bashir and his associates said it had retrieved hundreds of millions of dollars in property and cash, but it faces resistance and criticism that it applies “selective justice.”
The committee’s progress is seen as a litmus test for the peaceful transition to democratic rule after the 2019 overthrow of Bashir, who dominated Sudanese politics for 30 years before the military forced him out after a popular uprising.
