SHREVEPORT, La. â Whatâs being called the âbest store Brookshireâs has builtâ has moved a step closer to construction on a busy corner in the cityâs fastest growing neighborhood.
The Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission last week recommended approval of a planned unit development and preliminary site plan for a Brookshireâs grocery store at the corner of Southern Loop and Norris Ferry Road. The Shreveport City Council will have to give the final thumbs up when the request is introduced probably at the May 25 meeting.
Brookshireâs will build a 56,000 square-foot store with retail sales of beer and wine, a fuel station and a drive-thru pharmacy window. Additional commercial space will also be provided on site.

In Bossier City, the arena is now known as the Brookshire Grocery Arena. The Tyler, Texas-based chain replaces CenturyLink as the naming rights sponsor. Brad Brookshire, CEO of Brookshire Grocery said they are thrilled about the partnership with the community.
“I look forward to the day to come here for the first event at the Brookshire Grocery Area, the BGA,” said Brad Brookshire.
The grocery chain signed a ten-year commitment with the 4,000 seat multi-purpose arena. COO Trent Brookshire said a lot of work when into the new logo for the arena.
“And you look at it and it’s got three words on it and a little thing, but that little thing to us represents upward flight with the four contrails of what would be a B-52 bomber representing our connections back to Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier,” said Trent Brookshire.
