I see that Mike Joslin is having one of his rants again, this time on reducing CO2 emissions. Whilst I entirely agree that they should be reduced, I am astonished at his comment that the Prime Minister should “cut the use of cars by one day a week”. How on earth does he propose that should be achieved? No politician of any party would legislate for that as they would be too fearful of the public backlash and of losing their seats. Having spent over 40 years in public transport, I can assure Mr Joslin that motorists would give up anything except their cars.
A WEYMOUTH café is running a bake-off competition with a difference to support vulnerable people and key workers during the pandemic. Upwey Wishing Well, in Church Street, is lifting spirits of vulnerable people across Dorset through an innovative online bake-off competition. The competition, dubbed the Great Upwey Wishing Well Bake Off, will see 16 contestants battle against each other in four quarter-finals - with each winner being chosen every week by the cafe s social media followers. The cafe owner, Jacci Pestana said: So far, cakes have been delivered and enjoyed by residents at Ingleside Residential Care Home in Weymouth and Grassington House based in Dorchester, along with emergency staff members at Dorchester Hospital A&E.
