The latest application for a city committee triggered a review of the cityâs policies regarding residency. During the Ontario City Council work session on April 8 while considering an application from Justin Kearns to serve on the airport committee, Mayor Riley Hill pointed out that Kearns was from Nampa.
Councilor John Kirby said he thought the committee only had one person with an Ontario address, however City Manager Adam Brown confirmed that the airport committee membership comprises four from Ontario, one from Vale, one from Nyssa and one from Weiser.
Kirby noted that while typical committee appointments are only eligible for those residing in the 8C School District boundary, he felt the airport committee represented âa vested interest in aircraft ownership,â and mentioned that the city is working on a big master plan, proposed to increase the capacity of traffic to the airport.

The Caisse de dépot et placement du Québec is partnering with alternative investment manager Energize Ventures to promote digital innovation in the energy and sustainable industry sectors.
The co-investment partnership will see the Caisse commit up to $125 million over the next three years to ventures targeted at digital technologies that will advance the sustainable transition of energy and industry. The pension fund conducted a full market review of potential partners before selecting Energize, but the parties have a history of collaboration the Caisse is already a limited partner in the investment funds Energize Ventures I and Energize Ventures II.
OMERS Infrastructure subsidiary Leeward Renewable Energy has acquired a utility-scale solar project platform of approximately 10GW from First Solar.
Upon closing of the transaction, Leeward will acquire the project development platform, which includes 773MW of projects that are expected to commence construction in the next two years, as well as the 30MW Barilla Solar Project, which is operational.
The US pipeline includes projects in the California, south west and south east markets, which are geographically complementary to Leeward’s portfolio.
The transaction will enable Leeward to expand its geographic footprint, furthering Leeward’s position in the US renewable energy space.
