Work to repair a heavily eroded river bank in a Tynedale town has been completed ahead of schedule. The Environment Agency has confirmed its project that involved strengthening the river bank below the riverside footpath in Haydon Bridge and then also re-planting the area with trees has been completed. The footpath located at the back of Rocksprings Crescent that goes towards the car park at Martins Close has now also reopened as a result of the finished work. We’re delighted that the repair work along this section of river bank on the River South Tyne has been completed ahead of schedule, said Tom Pitman, project manager at the Environment Agency.
