The Wood River City Council is selling a burned out building downtown. A large fire at a building at 7 Wood River Avenue about a month ago destroyed the upper story of the building. The council declared the building as surplus and authorized requests for proposals at its last meeting and has now agreed to sell the building to a couple of local businessmen. City Manager Jim Schneider tells The Big Z the council will sell the building to Tom Declue III and Mark Wadlow for $1. Click here for Schneider s comments Schneider says the hope is for it to be turned into a restaurant, noting there is land available near the building that could be used for parking. The building sits close to the intersection with Ferguson Avenue, and was mostly vacant as tenants of the structure had been moving out in the days prior to the March 1 ....
