Fatal shooting: Springfield police ID victim, suspect

View Comments Police say they have identified the victim and suspected shooter from a Thursday afternoon homicide in north Springfield. But it does not appear criminal charges will be filed, at least for now. Police say they responded to a home in the 2200 block of North Kellett Avenue just after noon Thursday and found 47-year-old Ryan L. King deceased with a gunshot wound. Officers who responded to the scene were also able to contact the suspected shooter, 24-year-old Phillip Gundersen. Police say they arrested Gundersen on suspicion of second-degree murder, but the Greene County Prosecutor s Office decided to not pursue charges against Gundersen at this time after reviewing the initial evidence in the case.
