AIM Center Hosts Reception For New Book Reveal Wednesday, July 7, 2021
A reception will be held at the AIM Center, 472 West Martin Luther King Blvd. Thursday to reveal a new book titled, Drawn Together: An AIM Center Anthology. Drawn Together: An AIM Center Anthology is a culmination of the writing and artwork created by Members of the AIM Center between March 2020 to January 2021. The Anthology reveals the emotions members dealt with during COVID-19 and showcases the hope they have in their lives, officials said. Their images and words express a beauty for life that comes from an appreciation of their gifts and a longing to contribute to their community. This Anthology stands as a testament against stigma, that powerful mark of disgrace associated with having mental illness, which steals a person’s self-worth. The Weldon F. The AIM Center will have its kickoff of “Get Moving for Mental Health” a fundraising and awareness event held throughout May on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Coolidge Park. The AIM Center is encouraging folks to improve their physical health by moving more in May and log this activity by clicking here “Get Moving for Mental Health” and in turn you will be supporting the AIM Center and mental health awareness. May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. As one of the first events on city property since the quarantine and COVID restrictions have been lifted, it is appropriate that it is an event supporting mental health awareness since so many have struggled over the past year, officials said.
