Rural Voices, our February Front Porch Book Club selection and very first young adult pick, we glimpse moments in the lives of teenagers from Utah to New York, Alaska to Georgia. Their backgrounds and experiences are as varied as their locations, but each one explores an aspect of country living that deserves attention and casts a spotlight on stereotypes and stigmas in illuminating and necessary ways.

A Book to Give for the Holidays: Rural Voices By Lyn Miller-Lachmann on December 21, 2020 at 6:29 PM
Yes, it’s late for gift givers. But this is a year like no other, so if a gift arrives late, chalk it up to shipping delays or general state of disorganization. And this is a beautiful book, one that will appeal to teen readers and anyone else looking for short stories for their variety or are not ready to commit to an entire novel. The stories are also good for teachers looking for readings that can fit into a single class period and still have time for discussion.
