Fans upset at the "crossword" rule on Wheel of Fortune | 98.7 The River

By Mark Robertson The NAB Achievement In Broadcasting Dinner A Wheel Of Fortune contestant ran afoul of one of the long-running game show’s most controversial rules and fans are divided. Some have called the rule “draconian” while others say it’s fair and contestants are given ample warning. This isn’t the first time this particular rule has caused an otherwise successful contestant to stumble. … A contestant this week clearly believed that he had the crossword puzzle challenge in the bag when he told host Pat Sajak he was ready to solve. “Sole, Flounder, Cod, and Catfish,” he confidently answered when called to fill in the puzzle. To his, and the audience’s, surprise, Sajak replied, “No, sorry. That’s not right.” When Sajak moved to the next contestant, she provided the correct answer: “Sole, Flounder, Cod, Catfish.” The difference between the two answers? One little “and.” The crossword puzzle, which was a new feature introduced in 2016, has very

'Wheel of Fortune' viewers renew call for rule change after another contestant loses on small technicality

Wheel of Fortune fans are upset after a technicality cost yet another contestant a win.  A rule that was introduced in 2016 along with the long-running game show’s crossword puzzle format has been causing some problems for players. As some note, the rule is needlessly restrictive to contestants who otherwise solve the puzzle. This was the case for contestant David Petersen, who lost out on big money simply for adding the word and to his answer.  The crossword puzzle typically consists of four words that the contestants need to figure out. When it comes time to deliver their answer, the rules state that they need to say the four words and only the four words that make up the puzzle solve. Unfortunately, on Wednesday s episode, Petersen answered, Soul, Flounder, Cod and Catfish.

On Wednesday’s episode, David Pederson had just about solved the daily crossword puzzle, which consisted of four words under the category of “Catch of the Day.” Pederson was just two letters short of completely filling out the puzzle, so he opted to solve it.

Letters / Mystery of the Audi car-window smashing

JINGWEI JAI’s car passenger window was smashed in Braddon. There were other passenger windows smashed in Belconnen. The mystery that binds them together is they are all Audis. MY car window was smashed last month. The vehicle was in a basement car park in Braddon.  The glass of the passenger side was totally shattered. What’s strange was nothing was stolen, despite my having some cash in the car.  It wasn’t news until I noticed recently at least three other Audi cars parked in another apartment in Belconnen were also smashed, and the person who did this only targeted Audi, only aimed at passenger-side window glass and stole nothing.
