Wellington City councillor Nicola Young says the underwrite has secured the event in Wellington for the next five years. (File photo) While organisers had not threatened to move the event outside of Wellington if the underwrite was not approved, the event would have faced an uncertain future if the council did not agree to it, she said. “They couldn’t stage it last year because of Covid-19.
