David: I’m David Kretzmann, here at MjBizCon and joined now by special guest, Chris Walsh, the founding editor and vice president at Marijuana Business Daily, the organization that’s putting on this event.
Chris, I figure we can jump into it, maybe you can give us some background on, who you are and how you found your way into the cannabis industry.
Chris: Sure. I think like many people in the industry, I didn’t expect to be here. And if you had told me 10 years ago this is what I’d be doing and this was an actual industry and a business opportunity, I would have laughed. I’m a traditional journalist by training and worked at mainstream newspapers on business desks and reporting on a lot of different industries. Then I moved to South Korea and lived there for two years and was an editor at a newspaper there, and came back in 2011. When I had left two years earlier, when I left Denver,

David: I’m David Kretzmann, I’m here at MJBizcon. I’m joined by a special guest, Brendan Kennedy, the co-founder and CEO of Tilray, and I thought we could just dive in by going into Privateer Holdings and Tilray, and maybe you could talk a little bit about your background with both those entities, and how they’re related.
Brendan: Sounds great. Thanks, David. So, I founded Privateer Holdings about eight years ago. Started in Silicon Valley, came across this industry and became fascinated by it, and spent a lotta time researching the cannabis industry in 2010 and 2011. And about five years ago, I was approached by some members of the Canadian government who were looking to implement a new regulatory framework here in Canada. And at Privateer, we had raised capital from investors around the world to invest specifically in the cannabis industry.

David Kretzmann: David Kretzmann here at MJBizCon, and I’m joined by Vinay Tolia and Steve Klein, who are both with Flowr. I’m kind of going in blind here, as Jim Walsh was kind enough to reach out and set this up, but I understand you’re an emerging company in the cannabis space. You might have a relationship with Scotts Miracle-Gro. So, I want to learn, I want our members to learn. So maybe one of you can just jump in to explain what Flowr is, and how you both came together to be involved in the cannabis industry.
