DALLAS, TX – Coastal Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Grayson McCall was named the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Most Inspirational Freshman for 2020, it was announced on Monday night during a virtual award show.
One of seven semifinalists for the Shaun Alexander-FWAA Freshman of the Year award, McCall was named to the FWAA Freshman All-America team and The Athletic’s 2020 College Football Freshman All-America team.

CONWAY, S.C. â Coastal Carolina football had a pair of freshmen in Grayson McCall and Willie Lampkin named to The Athleticâs 2020 College Football Freshman All-America team.
McCall was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt first team for his play this season.
The redshirt freshman has been superb in his first season as the starting quarterback for the nationally-ranked Chanticleers. He is among the nationâs leaders with 23 passing touchdowns and just two interceptions and leads the Sun Belt in passing efficiency at 185.9 on the season. NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Grayson McCall was one of 12 finalists for The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl it was announced today.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates’ bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.
