The SPS, with the financial help of the local Optimist Club, had 250 stuffed toys made in the likeness of Jack, the force’s top dog, which will be given to children and youth in the community when police arrive.

“It’s not always a positive encounter when we’re meeting them,” said SPS Const. Jackie Lange, Jack’s handler. “We can give them something in the moment to sidetrack them and take them away from whatever brought us to their house that day. We thought it would be neat to have a re-creation of the police dog.”
