Second-seeded Wright State wasn’t as fortunate. The Raiders led by 24 with under 6 1/2 minutes left in regulation but eventually lost 94-92 to Milwaukee in overtime. Milwaukee’s DeAndre Gholston made the tying 3-pointer in that game in the final seconds of regulation.
Third-seeded Oakland won in overtime as well, 87-83 over Youngstown State. The one game that didn’t require an extra session was still decided at the buzzer. David Böhm capped a wild scramble around the basket with a putback just as the clock was expiring, giving Northern Kentucky a 70-69 win over Detroit Mercy.
The semifinals are Monday.
Panthers rally to upset Wright State in Horizon League quarterfinals
The Milwaukee Panthers pulled off the comeback of all comebacks, knocking off Wright State 94-92 in overtime in the Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
DeAndre Gholston hit a three-point shot with 1.3 seconds left to force overtime. Gholston then hit all six of his free throws in the final 38+ seconds of overtime to complete an improbable rally.
The Panthers (10-11) trailed by 24-points with 8:11 left in regulation, then trailed again by three points with 1:43 left in overtime.
Gholston finished with 31 points (26 in second half) and nine rebounds, while Te’Jon Lucas scored 25 points, 23 of which coming in the second half comeback.

No. 1 seed Cleveland State hosted No. 10 seed Purdue Fort Wayne in the teams’ fifth matchup of the season. Fort Wayne hung tough, and the teams traded blows at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime. Things really got wild in double OT, when the Mastodons took a pair of five-point leads with two minutes to play and drained a three to take a three point lead with 32 seconds to go.
