Del Norte COVID-19 Update: 13 New Cases Identified Courtesy of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Thirteen new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Del Norte Public Health Branch, officials announced Monday. The new cases appear to be a significant increase from the three new cases reported on Thursday, according to Del Norte County’s COVID-19 Information Hub. Seven new cases had been reported Wednesday. The total number of active cases in Del Norte County has also increased from 12 on Wednesday to 14 on Thursday and 22 on Monday, according to the county’s Information Hub. However there are currently no hospitalizations from COVID-19 and no cases among the county’s incarcerated population, according to the county web page.

The county’s Public Health Branch isn’t getting out of the vaccination business entirely, Dr. Warren Rehwaldt told supervisors. The county will hold a clinic at the Department of Health and Human Services building on Wednesday. There are also clinics planned for next month, Rehwaldt said. Vaccine hesitancy continues to be a concern, Rehwaldt said, though interest in Pfizer has peaked since the inoculation became available to pre-teens and teens.
