Frontier’s Jack Vecellio continues to raise the bar for himself.
At the 2021 Flying Circus Summer Fiber-Blast Pole Vault Festival Meet in Warwick, New York, on Saturday, Vecellio improved on his personal best with a top leap of 16 feet, one inch. That height would have had him in fourth place at Nationals in Eugene, Oregon, the week before.

Hannah Gilbert had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs, but the Valley Storm 14U softball team fell one run short in the title game of the Coaches Classic on Sunday.
The Storm fell to CT Diamond Club, 9-8, in the championship game played Sunday at Murphy Park.
Margarette Howland and Delaney Fifield each had two hits in the title game for the Storm, and Maggie Fay drove in a pair of runs.
The Valley Storm got into Sunday’s final thanks to a 19-4 win over the Vermont Storm in the quarterfinal round and a 7-5 win over the NEK Tri-Force in the semis.
Bulletin Board: Greenfield Post 81 opens with dominant American Legion win over Sheffield

A lights-out pitching performance from David Carey and Tyler Baranowski, mixed with an offensive barrage that came from just about everyone in the lineup propelled the Greenfield Post 81 Senior Legion baseball team to an impressive season-opening win on Sunday.
Post 81 scored a convincing 13-0 win over Sheffield in a game played at Lenox Memorial High School.
“All the kids on my team got knocked out in the first round of their high school playoffs so they’re taking that competitive nature into the Legion season,” Post 81 skipper Kevin Luippold said. “All the kids really want to be here and compete with each other.”
SOUTH DEERFIELD One big inning at the plate from Turners Falls and a trio of late home runs proved to be the difference on Friday in a softball game between the Thunder and Frontier. Turners took an early 4-0 lead, with Holly Myers smashing a solo.
