TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Children in the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club camp received new clothes for the new school year Tuesday thanks to the League of Terre Haute.
The league donated a new outfit to each child for the first day of school.
The children also received new books donated from the Vigo County Public Library, as well as a new toothbrush and toothpaste.
The League of Terre Haute has a clothes closet sponsored by the family of Louise L. Sommers that helps make this event possible.
League President Megan Kirk says the children love their new outfits and their smiles speak for themselves.
Vigo County kids take a step into nature

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Children from the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club had the chance to experience some local nature sites.
The group traveled to the Wabashiki State Fish and Wildlife Area. The kids took part in several nature-themed activities.
The West Vigo High School Fishing Club even helped the kids learn to fish. We want to introduce these kids as they are young, into a beautiful source of nature, where they ll have a good time and a good memory of this location, Chris Herrington, a co-founder of Emily s Walk, told us.
Boys and Girls Club takes part in Blue Door project to help with donations
The Terre Haute Boys and Girls offers programming year-round. The club CEO says supporting one member for one year costs around $388.

Now, offering help is getting easier. The group is taking part in the nation-wide Blue Door Project.
It s a fundraiser that benefits kids in the club. All you have to do is scan a QR code on a flyer and choose how much you want to donate monthly.

Both students and staff are excited about this new Co-Design project. In this upcoming partnership, there will be a primary focus placed on students and helping them succeed academically.

WABASH VALLEY, Ind. (WTHI) - Community groups will receive help to recover from the pandemic.
The Wabash Valley Foundation issued another challenge fundraiser. For every $2 from the public, the foundation will give $1.
More than $150,000 is up for 22 organizations.
Organizations have until September 30 to raise the money.
