Thursday night s NBA Draft was quite the testimonial for Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) as the high school basketball powerhouse became the first team in history to produce four first round picks in the same draft class.
The four first round selections from the 2019-20 Montverde Academy team surpasses 1981-82 Dunbar (Baltimore, Md.) and 1988-89 St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.), which both produced three first round picks. Muggsy Bogues, Reggie Lewis and Reggie Williams of Dunbar were all drafted in 1987 while Terry Dehere, Bobby Hurley and Rodrick Rhodes were picked from the legendary St. Anthony team.

Seton Hall’s ‘Mamu’ shares Big East Player of the Year honors in historic 3-way split

When Sandro Mamukelashvili first arrived at Seton Hall as a freshman, he dreamed of one day being considered the league’s best player.
“Coming in as a freshman, I used to look at the top players and I said to myself, ‘One day I will be that top player that everybody talks about, who everybody puts on the scouting report,’” he said on a recent Zoom call in response to a question from NJ Advance Media.
Now “Mamu” has reached one of his dreams.

In December of 1993, at the beginning of his junior season at Seton Hall, Dan Hurley had had enough of his personal demons and decided to do something about it.
He called a press conference in the back room at Dohoney’s tavern on West Side Avenue in Jersey City, and invited several local beat reporters. Hurley felt comfortable at Dohoney’s because it was owned by Ed Ford, a longtime Jersey City character who was commonly known as “The Faa” and was the best man at the wedding of Hurley’s parents, Bob and Chris.
