Arkansas World War II Veteran Turns 102 Years Old

World War II veteran Taylor Nolen just turned 102 years old. The American hero was born in Faulkner County, Arkansas on Dec. 12, 1918.
The Naylor, Arkansas-native was the second man in Faulkner County to be drafted.
In an interview with Well, I was pretty bad lonesome for awhile. I went across the United States, down to see the Panama Canal, and 43 days later we landed in Melbourne, Australia, Nolen said.
THV11 reports that Nolen became a staff sergeant and commanded a squad of a dozen troops in the South Pacific for four years. He then returned home to Arkansas.

Shiela “Kay’’ Nolen, age 80, passed away November 28, 2020 after a long battle with Sarcoidosis of the lungs. She was born September 8, 1940 in Decatur, Texas to Paul and Shiela Hawkins.
Kay (Shate / KayKay) loved her friends and family with all of her being. She created beautiful beaded stockings for family and friends, painted and was an extremely creative and talented person. She also loved to watch her grandchildren in their activities whether it be golf, baseball, football, dancing, or cheering. She was their biggest fan. She proudly boasted of all their accomplishments and more than a few times Facebook posted their pictures.
