Over the last year I’ve been following Craig Roh into a deep dive into the sublime subtleties of pass rushing. Not that you need all of that to appreciate fine defensive end play. As a fan it’s quite obvious when a player has mastered the art of coordinating hand movement, hip flexion, foot spacing and angle, and shoulder depth from the trail they leave. One moment there’s some people standing up around a football-holding guy, and then suddenly this beautiful dance has become a jumbled mosh pit and the quarterback is screaming.

⢠Junior defensive end Aidan Hutchinson: Iâm fired up. Weâve got a young staff. I really love all the coaches that Coach Harbaugh brought in. Itâs kind of a different energy around Schembechler these days â everyoneâs excited, everyoneâs just really fired up to just keep working on this defense and get out there and practice it. Coach Mac has brought in a bunch of different schemes, so Iâm going to be doing everything this year â standing up, hand in the dirt, everything. Coach Mac came in here with a lot of energy, and itâs a different type of focus. You can tell heâs been in the league for the past eight years â heâs kinda got that way about him. I like what weâre doing with the defense. I like the culture that heâs instilling in us. I think heâs doing a really good job, and Iâm just really fired up to have him as my coach.
