Tnuva and Rutgers Food Innovation Center to Collaborate By Debra Rubin | April 29, 2021
Tnuva, an Israeli global kosher food manufacturer with American headquarters in New Jersey, has launched an “exciting” collaboration with the Rutgers University Food Innovation Center (FIC). The announcement was made in partnership with the New Jersey-Israel Commission and the nonprofit economic development organization Choose New Jersey.
“Tnuva is one of Israel’s most exciting brands,” said New Jersey-Israel Commission Executive Director Andrew Gross about the company whose American headquarters is in Lincoln Park. “A large bulk of Israel trade is in food and food products, and that really emphasizes the importance of having a large Israeli food brand in New Jersey.”
Rutgers Jewish Fraternity Vandalized on Yom HaShoah By Debra Rubin | April 22, 2021
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s office is investigating a prank perpetrated on a Jewish fraternity house on Rutgers University’s New Brunswick campus during a Yom HaShoah program as a bias incident. The university community and administration have widely condemned the building being “egged,” an apparently anti-Semitic act.
There were no eyewitnesses. Rutgers police, which is investigating, confirmed there is no security footage of the vandalism at the Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternity house on Sicard Street.
The incident occurred during a 24-hour reading of the names of Holocaust victims and was first reported in the student newspaper, the Daily Targum. It drew a swift response from other students and university officials.
Jewish Groups Call Out NBC For Anti-Semitic Programming By Debra Rubin | March 04, 2021
B’nai B’rith International CEO Daniel Mariaschin called it “a cheap shot at Jewish customs” that plays into “blood libel” stereotypes, while the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s (SWC) associate dean and director of global social action Rabbi Abraham Cooper expressed outrage and frustration that in the media “no one else is fair game except our community.”
Their anger was directed at NBC, which has received significant backlash in the Jewish community for airing programming on two recent occasions that has been labeled by many as promoting “classic anti-Semitic tropes.”
