LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - When you say, letâs go somewhere, consider visiting two Lufkin museums.
The Texas Forestry Museum reopened its doors for the first time since the pandemic. Itâs completely remodeled, has new exhibits and lots of fun for the whole family. Museum director Kendall Gay says a lot of hard work was put into the exhibits
Also in Lufkin, the Museum of East Texas is open with a brand new exhibit. All the artwork is in the museumâs own collection. Director John Handley was immediately impressed .
Valentines Day I-Spy Trail
If you are looking to fill some time with free fun in East Texas, I found a great event to keep those kids entertained. Valentines Day is a great time of year for kids to learn about this big forest we live in. Bring your kids to the Valentine s Day I-Spy on the trail. The trees at the museum will be all dressed up as woodland creatures for the holiday.
This is a come and go activity starting this Saturday February 6th and going though Valentines Day Sunday February 14th from 8am - 6pm daily. The trees will remain decorated to enjoy the entire week along the trail. This is a great activity for the kids, and it s free. That is a great combination for East Texas.
