CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â An alligator that washed up on Malaquite Beach earlier this week is listed in critical condition and is being treated by the Texas Sealife Center.
The Texas Sealife Center said it is not common to see them near the ocean because they are a freshwater species. Officials said it came from Louisiana and know because it was tagged. They suspect the recent rain in Texas and Louisiana could have washed it over to Malaquite Beach.

Local brewing company hosts Sips for Sealife benefiting Texas Sealife Center

After more than a year, Lorelei Brewing Company invited people out to the 4th annual Sips for Sealife benefiting the Texas Sealife Center.
Local vendors, artists, and of course the local brewery were in attendance for one of the biggest fundraisers for the center. For us, it s a no brainer to want to lend support where we can, and if we can have an event like this and raise money, said Eric Jolly with the Lorelei Beer Experience. It s really important to support local, local businesses, local non-profits. That to me is one of the most beautiful things about this event, said Jamie McWilliams, a volunteer at Texas Sealife.

If you re looking for something to do April 16, Texas country artist Jon Wolfe will be at Brewster s Street Ice house in downtown Corpus Christi. The show will kick off at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are still available but you might want to act fast before they sell out.
The city of Kingsville will be hosting it s 4th Annual Festival De La Loteria on April 17, on Main Street. It starts at 10 a.m. and continues through 5 p.m. You can purchase loteria cards and compete for thousands of dollars in prizes. They ll also be having huge prizes if you dress up as your favorite loteria character! You also don t want to miss the chancla throw! Our very own Telemundo anchor Nina Martinez will also be the emcee for the fashion show. Admission is free.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Padre Island National Seashore staffers on Tuesday will begin to release hundreds of sea turtles who were “cold-stunned” during the winter storm.
The turtles become immobilized and are unable to swim away from danger when the temperatures get too low.
Officials said that the record-breaking plunge in temperatures caused the largest cold-stunning event in the state’s history, putting the turtles at risk.
