In March, Davidson was named as interim president of ANTHC after the former president resigned. Davidson took a leave of absence from her role at APU
Davidson, who is Yup’ik from Bethel and a Tribal citizen of Orutsararmiut Native Council
, previously served as senior director of legal and intergovernmental affairs for ANTHC, the commissioner of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, and as the lieutenant governor of the State of Alaska.
Hilton Hallock began serving as APU s interim president during Davidson’s leave of absence. Hallock will continue to serve in that role during a hiring search for president.

On March 12, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) announced in a news release that Valerie Nurr’araaluk Davidson would serve as interim president of the organization.
“It is such a humbling honor to be asked by the board to be able to step into this role. And I really, you know, my first priority is really going to be listening to what our employees have to say about their experience here, and what it is that they need to be successful in the work that we do. And also having those same conversations with our partners who support our work and the Tribal health system in the state and the federal government, with foundations to provide support for ANTHC.
