TASIK Chini yang terletak di Pahang terkenal dengan legenda Naga Seri Gumum, Naga Seri Pahang dan Naga Seri Daik yang dikatakan pernah menghuninya. Ia juga terkenal dengan legenda tamadun Khmer yang dikatakan tenggelam dalam tasik ini.
Sebagai tapak rizab biosfera pertama di negara ini, ia sepatutnya berfungsi sebagai tapak pemuliharaan dan konservasi kepelbagaian biologi, selain menyokong pembangunan lestari membabitkan ekonomi penduduk setempat, bukannya semakin pudar keseriannya akibat aktiviti penerokaan tanah dan perlombongan bijih besi yang berleluasa.
Ramai tidak mengetahui kepentingan mengekalkan Tasik Chini, hatta tidak mengambil endah pun kewujudannya. Di seluruh dunia, terdapat 651 tapak rizab biosfera dari 120 negara dengan Tasik Chini diwartakan sebagai tapak rizab biosfera kerana kekayaan kepelbagaian flora dan faunanya.
