Upgrade to improve intersection with significant crash history

The project aims to improve safety for motorists and cyclists. Council will be simplifying the intersection by widening and adding a new lane to Tamarind Drive North, making it the dominant through road. This upgrade will result in clearer right of way, improved line marking, and reduced vehicle speeds through the intersection. The current intersection was designed to cater for traffic volumes and movements associated with the former Pacific Highway, with Tamarind Drive North and Tamarind Drive South as the through road. Ballina Shire Council is upgrading the intersection of Tamarind Drive and Tintenbar Road to improve safety for motorists and cyclists.

Closed or open? Latest Northern Rivers road update

6th Apr 2021 10:00 AM | Updated: 12:44 PM A number of roads have been closed by Northern Rivers councils after recent rain and due to other reasons. The current list by MyRoadInfo includes:   Byron Shire Council: Council is not aware of any other roads that are closed, she added.  As always - people should drive to the conditions and be aware that because the catchment is so wet, water rises quickly and can cause flash flooding in some areas.   Closed 1. Norton Street, Ballina (between Fox and Bentinck Streets) - Access to this road is restricted due to a council approved event.   2. Dalwood Road @ Gum Creek Weir (Caution) WATER OVER ROAD - Proceed with Caution
