Carthage Man Killed in Shooting in South Carolina

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina confirmed to TV stations in the area that a Carthage man was the victim of a shooting in Hartsville, South Carolina last Saturday. Christopher Benton McLeod, 29, of Carthage, was reportedly shot and later pronounced dead at a local hospital following a shooting that occurred in the area of the Hartsville Regional Airport on Saturday night. Local station WPDE reports that there are three suspects that are being sought in connection to the deadly shooting. According to the police report, Christopher McLeod and his father Joseph McLeod flew to Hartsville to sell hemp and flowers.

(WMBF) – Authorities have made an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting last week in Darlington County. According to Darlington County Sheriff James Hudson, Devon Sharnell McCoy was arrested in connection with the Feb. 16 shooting on Bay Branch Road near Lamar. Online records from the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center state McCoy was booked Feb. 22 on charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remained in jail Tuesday morning under no bond.

(WMBF) – The Darlington County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly single-vehicle crash that happened Wednesday. The accident happened around 5 p.m. on Highway 151 near Flowers Furniture, Coroner J. Todd Hardee said. The coroner said 59-year-old Michael E. Culbreath’s vehicle left the roadway and collided with a ditch. Culbreath was pronounced dead on scene.
