Dickson Council meeting: Future senior building buy finalized, mayor says Submitted, Nashville Tennessean
At the Dickson City Council meeting Monday, Mayor Don Weiss Jr. informed the council that on Dec. 17 the city completed the closing of the $4 million loan through the Tennessee Mutual Bond Fund approved by the council to fund construction of Dickson Fire Department Station No. 3 at the corner of Highway 70 East and Ridgecrest Drive and renovations to the former Dickson Athletic Club to become the new Dickson Senior Center.
Weiss said the city completed the purchase of the club for $1.75 million on Dec. 30.
Also at the meeting, the council voted on a request from Bill Hostettler and Darrell James to rezone a portion of one parcel from R-1 (low-density residential) and B-3 (highway commercial) to R-3 (high-density residential) and a portion of another parcel from B-3 to R-3 on Highway 46 South and Nails Creek Road.

Now 12 years have passed, there is a new South Africa under Nelson Mandela, and Vusi has returned from the United States to his homeland for his father s funeral.
This leads to some amusing moments of culture shock, as when Vusi, as the oldest son, is expected to cut the neck of a calf as a sacrifice for his father. He wants no part of it. I left as an African. I came back as an American, he explains to his middle brother, a disaffected freedom fighter who has found no role in peacetime. Vusi is also more or less at a loss about what to do with his father s spear, which he has inherited.
