Some board members will attend the meeting, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., in person while others will log on virtually. Along with the school reopening discussion, now a standard part of each meeting, the board will consider the recommendations from the SRO work group it convened last summer.

In December, MCPS Superintendent Jack Smith proposed a $2.7 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2022 that was a decrease of about $42.6 million from the current budget. Since December, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced his state budget that provided more resources than expected for MCPS, the state’s largest school district, according to MCPS Associate Superintendent of Finance Dan Marella. The adjustments include providing grants for districts to offset what would have been a decrease in funding because of a drop in enrollment. UCSB Men Take 3rd, Women 4th at MPSF Swimming Championships

Housing and Development Newsletter Junior Molly McCance and freshmen Danielle Carter added second-place finishes on the women s side, McCance in the 200 fly (2:01.95) and Carter in the 200 back (1:57.94). Additionally, freshman Reagan Nibarger earned a third-place finish in the 100 free (50.90). The women s 400 free relay squad of Paige Gambetta, Nibarger, Sydney Rouse, and Bryn McGowan finished fourth in 3:26.40. Lexi Fusari and Bryn McGowan continued to do a great job of guiding our women through a difficult championship season. I am proud of the way they raced in their final MPSF meet, said Macedo. I am impressed by Maelynn s excellent double and can t wait to see Danielle chase more victories in the coming years.

UCSB Swim Teams Fall to Fourth Place at MPSF Championships

By Barry Punzal, Noozhawk Sports Editor | @NoozhawkSports | 12:33 a.m. UCSB swimmers recorded three individual second-place finishes, but the Gauchos men and women both dropped to fourth place in the team standings after the second day at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at Cal Poly. The UCSB men have 186 points and trail BYU (302.5), Hawaii (301) and Cal Poly (208.5). The women, with a 190 points, sit behind Hawaii (305), BYU (273) and UC Davis (198). Dominic Falcon was runner-up in the men s 500 freestyle (4:26.92) for UCSB and sophomore Christian Martinez was second in the 50 free (20.13). In addition, the quartet of Tim Lee, Martinez, Zach Dietz, and Ryan Levy grabbed the second spot in the 200 free relay (1:20.38). Men s team captain Dan Marella secured third place in the 500 Free (4:27.35).
